Midwifery and maternity care

In the days after birth, a midwife can visit you at home for the necessary medical care such as: personal care (inspection of sutures, blood loss), assistance with breast or bottle feeding, etc.

You may also want a maternity nurse to support you in daily household work and care for the baby. If you have an insurance, midwifery care is free and paid directly by the “mutualiteit”. The coverage of costs for maternity care depends on your household income.
