Health and Nutrition

Pregnancy is not a disease; you usually are able to work, to exercise and to play sports.

Sometimes though, being pregnant can be quite exhausting and you may have to adapt your work and lifestyle a bit. You may suffer from pregnancy ailments, such as nausea, reflux, smelling strange flavours, back pain etc.

If you get ill during your pregnancy, e.g. by the flu or a bladder infection, you should consult your GP or gynaecologist.

Nutrition

As is said, "If you're pregnant, you're eating for two." During pregnancy you do need more calories, but eating healthily and regularly is sufficient. You do not need to double your portions. Make sure you eat plenty of fruits, vegetables, and fibres. Also drink enough water. Limit unhealthy snacks and drinks such as soda’s and coffee.

When you are pregnant you should avoid certain foods, such as raw meat or certain types of cheese. This is in order to prevent diseases. Your midwife or doctor will discuss this with you.
